Water Resources Engineer Role

Candidates must demonstrate professional experience in an engineering consulting role. Resume must be project-based and include projects candidates has worked on in the United States. Please do not apply if you do not meet these qualifications.
Examples of Duties
Hydrology and Hydraulics
- Perform hydrologic calculations and construct hydrologic models to support design of stormwater control structures in compliance with hydrology procedures required by local and federal regulatory authorities
- Necessary software may include: HEC-HMS, HEC-SSP, HEC-DSSVue, ArcGIS/QGIS, and Microsoft Excel
- Perform hydraulic calculations and hydraulic modeling to conduct flood studies and to design and/or evaluate stormwater control structures such as channels, berms, levees, earthen impoundments, spillways, weirs, culverts, roadway drainage structures, etc.
- Necessary software may include: HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), Flow 2D, FlowMaster, HY8, and CulvertMaster
- Prepare technical reports
- Perform sediment transport calculations and analyses; evaluate how sediment may impact the design of stormwater control structures
- Design site civil infrastructure such as retention/detention basins, grading of the site for proper drainage, setting finished floor elevations of structures, riprap armoring of embankments or channels
- Prepare site civil grading and drainage plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Prepare construction drawings (e.g., grading plans, drainage infrastructure, wet utilities) using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Prepare construction specifications for drainage infrastructure improvements
- Attend and/or manage site visits/field work to inspect and oversee construction progress
- Assess existing public or private water systems to ascertain condition of systems and compliance with regulations and performance requirements
- Design new wet utilities (water distribution pipes and/or wastewater collection/sewers)
- Model existing and future performance of water distribution systems and calibrate models of these systems
- Necessary software may include: EPANET, ArcGIS/QGIS, WaterCAD, InfoWater, and Microsoft Excel
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates for infrastructure construction
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- 2 - 5 years of experience in civil engineering or water resources engineering
- Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of start date
- Valid Driver License
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and understanding of drainage and hydrology & hydraulics
- Experience and understanding of water distribution systems and water & wastewater
- Strong technical writing skills
- Proficiency with software as listed in example duties above

- 40 hours (full-time) per week
- Live in Tucson, AZ, and work in our office in historic downtown Tucson
- Self-motivated, must have ability to find information and learn new skills and complete tasks as required for project needs
- Flexibility in job duties; other duties may be assigned depending on overall needs of the team and current projects
- Ability to work with others on a team to complete projects
- Occasional travel outside of usual work hours
